ABOUT

stanza is a PROGRAMME & STUDIO for critical graphic design & publishing in Copenhagen.

As a graphic design studio we accept commissions for projects such as visual identities, exhibition design and books within a broad range of cultural, institutional and political initiatives. For each project we like to occupy various roles besides graphic design, such as editing and researching, at times writing, photography and printing takes part as well.

As a noun, stanza has a double meaning, referring both to the linguistic (from English) and to the spatial (from Italian). While the first, points to the sentence structures within poems, the later simply means ‘a room’. Through various formats such as exhibitions, talks, screenings and presentations, stanza’s project space manifests publishing as an independent artistic practice.

s/z is our imprint for independent publishing.

We occasionally offer internships and will announce any available positions via our Instagram. Unfortunately we do not have capacity to reply to unsolicited applications.

stanza is a non-profit association founded on an interest in developing the way in which the concept of publishing is seen and discussed. Supporters of our space can become members of the association.

stanza curate and host local events, talks, presentations and exhibitions. These activities rely on research, fair working conditions and public inclusivity. The programme of stanza relies on the generous support of funding, donation and members. 

As a member, you will receive 50% on all our publications.

stanza is located in the Copenhagen neighbourhood Nørrebro. By public transport stanza can be reached via:

  • Bus lines A1 and 5C, stop at Elmegade

  • Bus 68, stop at Blågårdsgade (Åboulevard)

  • Train to Nørreport Station + 10 minutes walk

ACCESSIBILITY

stanza is facing the street Blågårdsgade, located at the ground floor. To visit stanza, you have to knock on the window, climb one step leading to the main entrance. With this in mind, we regret that stanza currently has limited access for wheelchair users. If you have any specific questions regarding accessibility, please do not hesitate to contact us, we will do our best to accommodate all.
